April is National Poetry Writing Month! The challenge is to write a poem every day of the month. I’m using prompts from the Writer’s Digest Poetic Asides blog.
Write a family poem.
We had talked of having you,
charting a calendar, marking the days
when the body is ripest for making,
but held fast to the violence of our passion,
beckoning you to consciousness by force and will
against your idealistic rebellion and insurrection.
You never fell to our subjugation
or the awareness we tried to press upon you
like restless monarchs lusting for empire.
